5 stars Cure for "Healthcare Reform" Blues 2010-06-09

Reviewer: S. Gilchrist

Here is a cure for the diarrhea of the so-called "Health Care Debate" in America. It is anti-diarrheal no American in his "right" mind has ever imagined trying. Why not study the competition and steal all their good ideas? Like the Japanese with their portable Cat Scan machines who know how to keep costs way down; or the British with their immunization incentives who know how to do public health and preventive medicine; or the Germans with their 300 plus insurance companies who really know know what privitization and "choice" means; or the French who take all the voodoo out of our menage of pricing schedules and can save a fortune on records keeping them "all on this itty bitty little card." As our country slides lower down all the major indices of quality of life in the "developed" world, why not "debate" the specifics of what the rest of the 48 leading nations have been doing for decades and in some cases, over a century? Let's put the "care" back into "healthcare" and start to give a...

This is a must read for everyone interested (pro or con) in the health care debate. It should be required reading for all involved with health care legislation. It is even well written and interesting, neither boring statistics nor a diatribe. READ IT!

This book answers many statements that are not accuate concerning the status
of the health care system in our country. We claim to be a nation holding to Christian beliefs and standards. If this is true, we need to care for the people of America and not those who are concerned about making millions of dollars.

5 stars Review of The Healing of America 2010-05-03

Reviewer: A. Ramirez

This is a great informative book concerning countries which have some of the better and fairer health care services than the U.S. It is well worth reading; it was an eye-opener. Knowledge is power and this book demonstrates that consisely. Know what kinds of health care systems exists around the world and be prepared when reviewing America's problems on health reform. The U.S. health care service is truly in need of repair.

For anyone trying to sort out the issues surrounding the health care debate, this book is a must read volume. The fundamental arguments for universal health care, illustrated by the varied approaches of countries which provide it, as well as a telling response to the formulaic opposition, are presented clearly in the context of a global exploration of the ways in which a specific injury might be treated. The appalling statistics of how "the best health care system in the world" falls far short of other systems in the most elementary measures should serve as sufficient evidence that change is urgently needed in our country.
